Dental Laser Northridge
As dental technology has advanced, so have the options for safely, effectively, and comfortably treating your smile. Dental lasers are one of those advances. We have incorporated lasers into our Northridge practice to bring our patients more options and better meet individual needs.
Some of the ways that we can use lasers include:
1. Treating periodontal disease
Periodontal disease is a serious infection that can destroy the tissues supporting the teeth. A dental laser can be used to kill the bacteria that cause periodontal disease and eliminate the infected tissue. Healthy tissue will be left untouched, and patients can enjoy a virtually pain-free treatment experience.
2. Treating oral lesions
Canker sores, cold sores, and other minor oral lesions can be quite painful, and take ten to fourteen days to fully heal. A dental laser can be used to eliminate the pain and speed healing. Treatment can be completed in just a few minutes, and you can be well on your way to healing after just one appointment.
3. Performing biopsies
Lasers are known for their precision, and can reduce the need for anesthetic. They are an excellent alternative to scalpels for performing soft tissue biopsies.
4. Preparing and completing cavity restorations
A dental laser is powerful enough to be used on hard tissues as well, and that means it can be used to remove the decayed tissue from a cavity, kill oral bacteria, and prepare a tooth for its final restoration. It can also be used to cure the dental filling material.
5. Completing cosmetic procedures
Lasers can quickly and easily transform gummy smiles, enhance whitening treatments, and perform other cosmetic procedures.
Our Northridge patients can expect greater comfort, faster healing, and improved precision each time we incorporate the dental laser into their treatment plan. Although lasers might not be appropriate for every dental treatment, they are increasingly used in a variety of soft and hard tissue applications.
